[edit] History

The band members have known each other since the age of twelve, are art students, and have played in various bands prior to band formation. On a two-month trip to New York City, they recorded several songs with the help of a four-track recorder.

After landing a record deal, they began working on an EP entitled Rememberese EP which was released on June 17, 2003. Their debut album Logic Will Break Your Heart was released later that year, and constant touring gained them a steady following. Their second album, Without Feathers, was released May 9, 2006 on Vice Records. They supported Kings of Leon on their UK spring tour in 2007.

They signed with Arts & Crafts[1] for the release of their third album, Oceans Will Rise, which was released August 19, 2008.[2]

On July 20, 2008 they played to a crowd of over 270,000 in Quebec City, opening for Paul McCartney, for the city's largest concert ever, to celebrate its 400th anniversary. On February 7, 2009, they played a free 1-hour and 15 minute show at Nathan Phillips Square as part of Toronto's WinterCity Festival. They supported the Kings of Leon on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in March 2009.

On March 28, 2009, The Stills were awarded 2 Junos (Canada's music awards), in the categories for Best New Group of The Year (despite having already released 3 records), and Best Alternative Album of the Year for their album "Oceans Will Rise". The group also performed their hit song "Being Here" during the televised portion of the awards show the next day.

[edit] Members

The Stills bassist Olivier Corbeil in Ottawa, 2007
  • Tim Fletcher – vocals, guitar
  • Dave Hamelin – vocals, guitar, drum kit
  • Liam O'Neil – keyboards, percussion, backing vocals
  • Olivier Corbeil (a.k.a. Oliver Crowe) – bass guitar, backing vocals
  • Gregory Paquet – guitar

Greg Paquet, former vocalist and lead guitarist, left the band in 2005 after the tours supporting their debut album Logic Will Break Your Heart to finish his university degree. Dave Hamelin then stepped out from behind the drum kit and replaced him on guitar and vocals. Liam O'Neil became a full-time member of the band on keyboards in 2005, and Julien Blais joined The Stills on drums for the tour supporting their 2008 album Oceans Will Rise’’.

On April 29, 2010 the band announced that Paquet would be re-joining the band and Hamelin would be moving back to drumming, essentially putting the original line-up back in place.[3]
